Koei Tecmo made an announcement about release plans for the upcoming Attack on Titan 2 at the Tokyo Game Show today. The action-adventure game will be coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, and PC in Japan.
The studio already revealed plans to bring the game to Xbox One and PS4, and we will likely see those versions plus releases on Nintendo Switch and PC in western regions as well. Official confirmations for Europe and North America aren’t here yet, but Koei Tecmo should make more announcements this fall.
Attack on Titan 2 will follow the story of season 2 of the anime and incorporate more dynamic storytelling and gameplay than the first installment. Mechanics for both the human characters and titans have been improved for the combat system to be more challenging and engaging. The omni-directional maneuver gear for the scouts will give a much better experience than the simple mechanics of the first game.
Character interaction will also be more in-depth in the sequel. You could barely interact with non-playable characters in the first Attack on Titan game, but the follow-up will see a much larger base camp with lots of characters to converse with in order to further the story. Developers also announced the roster of playable characters has been greatly expanded beyond the original 10 characters, though an exact number was not given.
Koei Tecmo revealed several new screenshots to go along with today’s news. Scroll through the screenshots below and get hyped for hacking away at some titans while flying through the air.
Attack on Titan 2 is planned to release in early 2018 in Japan with news on other regions coming soon.
