More details have emerged about the upcoming Attack on Titan 2 game, which launches in just a couple months. Koei Tecmo has revealed new playable characters and detailed the game’s co-op features in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, a popular Japanese magazine.
Fans of the Attack on Titan manga and anime will be happy to learn that four veteran characters will be playable in the game. The newly confirmed characters include Instructor Keith Shadis, Captain Kitz Weilman, Commander Dot Pixis, and Commander-in-Chief Darius Zackley. As of this addition, Attack on Titan 2 is currently known to have 37 total playable characters, many scouts and some titans. That’s not including the original character players can build and customize to their liking.
In addition to the expanding roster of characters, we now know more about the game’s co-op modes. Famitsu says online co-op is implemented from the get-go, and a new Joint Development feature enables two players to customize equipment by acquiring crafting materials. What’s more, the resulting equipment will be available to both players for an even better co-op experience. There will also this be a Team Versus mode that has players compete against each other in groups of four people.
If you’re looking for more than the blood and gore of titan battles, Attack on Titan 2 has you covered. While the original game lacked much interaction outside of combat, the sequel features more advanced RPG elements for deeper relationships with fellow scouts.
Attack on Titan 2 will be available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam worldwide. The Japanese release on March 15th features an exclusive PlayStation Vita version, while the Western release on March 20th will instead have an exclusive Xbox One version.
