Bungie released a blog post earlier this week detailing their plans for Destiny this year. The developer has confirmed that Destiny will be coming to a close this year and Destiny 2 will be released.
The final live event in the life of Destiny 1 will be revealed next week Wednesday. The event is called “Age of Triumph” and will be a celebration of everything Destiny has done since it was released in 2014. Age of Triumph will be revealed on March 8th.
Destiny 2
The developer has also answered quite a few questions about the upcoming sequel.
Bungie has confirmed that characters, items, possessions and currency will not be carried forwards to the sequel. The blog post suggests that players will still be able to access and play with their characters in the original Destiny game however. The developer believes that a sequel represents the “start of a new adventure for every player”. As a result, players will begin fresh in the game with new content to discover.
The developer has also confirmed that some things will be carried forwards. In recognition of the most dedicated players of the game, the characteristics of Level 20 characters and those who completed the Black Garden story mission will be carried forwards into the sequel. This means class, race, gender and physical appearance can be accessed in the sequel.
Age of Triumph
The final live event for Destiny will be taking place this year and the next game will be released this fall.
The reveal – March 8th
Weekly Rituals – March 15th

Bungie hasn’t released any details about what the Age of Triumph event contains. While the developer has announced the time frame for the event, there’s currently no information about what these titles actually mean.
