Artist Alley

Artist Alley is a wondrous gallery for independent artists to showcase their original and fan art. Alley includes – there’s so much more – comic books, art prints, novels, jewellery, clothing and homeware. Derwent is the supporting partner for Artist Alley this year, and a Derwent Price Pack is up for grabs. Comic Guests and authors are sneaking around, and there’s a heap of jewellery, accessories trinkets and clothing to snap up!

Comic District

If you’re a comic fan go and visit the Comic District. It’s got a comic library that’s perfect for picking up a new or old comic and chilling out, and it’s even got a giant comic cover for must-have selfies. There are dedicated stages for live sketched artwork, discussions with guest panels on trends in the industry, and how to get yourself involved.

Workshops. Enough said. These are valuable sessions for people of all ages and experience. Learn how to create your comic and ask an industry professional how it’s all done right there and then. Hear from the experts on tips and tricks to become a writer or artist within the Australian comics industry. Ask to get your portfolio reviewed and get some valuable insights.

Do you like to colour in things? MARVEL again in 2019 will bring the massive colouring wall to keep you busy.

Anime Station

The Anime Station features all-day streams of anime content plus a dedicated state for Anime & Cosplay content. If you’re subbed or dubbed fan, you can use headphones in English or Japanese selections. There’s manga available including source material, and volunteers are there to share their title recommendations.

Fan Panels are scheduled to discuss your fandom with other attendees and workshops are a must to help you on your course to Mangaka life. And to put your hard hours of anime watching to the test you can join anime trivia and face off in teams.

Signatures, snaps, action, celebrity panels

Tokens give you the privilege of taking a snap with your favourite guest or getting an autograph and are still available. Each guest has a timeslot which you need to choose when you purchase. You also need your admission ticket first before getting tokens.

Film & TV studios and franchises are around and can activate your desire to be a part of your favourite franchises. Ride an X-Wing, be in a Wizard’s Duel or possess the power of Thor. See your favourite guest up on stage as they join panels at Comic-Con. They’ll share insights into their careers and experiences.

Cosplay Central

Meet your favourite Cosplayer, get that perfect photo-op and get a complimentary photo with a local cosplay photographer. How cool is that! Central is for Cosplayers too. There’s a change room for lockers and mirrors for last-minute adjustments and repairs. Locals Cosplayers have also donated some of their costumes for display. These look awesome!

Gaming

Yes, don’t forget gamers! There’s a range of tournaments available for you to sign-up to and show off your skills and a free play area to play your favourites or try something new.

Family

There’s plenty to do for families attending Comic-Con Sydney. There’s a Kids Cosplay event for little cosplayers. They can go up by themselves, in groups or with a guardian.

Note: The event requires parental supervision. You can find more info here.

So, there you have it. Have a plan, work out what you want to do the most and enjoy Comic-Con! You can check out our tips for event prep and check the schedule for times and plan your transport if you need to. You can find info on accessibility information too.

There are an Exhibitor and Product Directory and aa floor plan posted on Facebook for you, so you don’t get lost in the epicness of Comic-Con. Give Oz Comic-Con a follow on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to keep up with updates too. Tickets are still available here.

Lachlan's passion for gaming started when he played DOS games like Commander Keen and Wacky Races. His passion grew when he discovered his Aunt's Atari 2600 and was given a Game Boy for Christmas from his Pa. His favourite console has been the PlayStation 1. Right now he has become a little lazy with gaming but still enjoys the occasional FIFA session. He hopes to get back into playing games more regularly so he can switch off from the real world like he did as a Kid. He's excited about the introduction of VR and hopes for some great VR titles.
