The game many thought impossible is happening after all. An Amazon product listing has leaked the reveal of Darksiders 3 from THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games (via Gematsu). The leak includes some exciting screenshots, game details, and platform information.
This leak comes unexpected but incredibly well-received. Vigil Studio, the team behind the first two Darksiders, went under a while back after publisher THQ went bankrupt. The former Vigil members formed some smaller studios–Gunfire Games being one of those–and Nordic Games (now THQ Nordic) bought the IP from THQ’s auction and recently released Darksiders 1 and 2 remasters.
And now, Darksiders 3, the highly anticipated third installment in the hack-and-slash action adventure series. According to the Amazon leak, the game is due out sometime in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
You’ll play as Fury, one of the universe’s Four Horsemen, along with War, Death, and Strife. Fury is a mage, and you’ll use her whip and magic to fight the Seven Deadly Sins and all their evil minions.
Fury has several forms, each of which comes with unique weapons, attacks, and abilities.
The open post-apocalyptic world overrun by nature stretches from the pits of hell to the heights of heaven with all manner of decayed, dilapidated war-torn environments to discover as you progress the story.
Many fans are wondering if a Nintendo Switch version is happening. Even the unloved Wii U got the first two Darksiders, and with Nintendo’s claim of expansive third-party support for the Switch, it’s surprising to not see the platform listed on the Darksiders 3 page. Of course, that confirmation could come soon enough.
THQ Nordic has not given a statement on Darksiders 3 at this time, but we’re expecting an official announcement from the publisher soon.
