League of Legends RP prices are increasing in the UK because of Brexit

Riot has just made a new announcement about the RP (Riot Points) used in League of Legends. UK players will be seeing a 20% price increase following Brexit and the decrease in the value of the pound.

According to the blog post from Riot, this devaluation means that UK players were paying much less compared to other countries around the world. Riot “monitored the situation closely over several months” however, it’s now been one year since the decision was made. Since then, the British pound has not recovered enough to continue the current pricing of RP.

“Like a lot of companies who sell digital content, we monitored the situation closely over several months to see whether the pound would recover, but it’s been over a year now and we feel we’ve reached the point where a price change is necessary to restore parity.” reads the blog post.

As a result, they are increasing the price of RP for all UK players. This will be a one-time change.

Riot states that prices will be rising by 20% on July 25th later this month. This change is being made to restore the balance to RP pricing around the world. However, it will not impact existing purchase and will only affect future purchases.

As part of these changes, the company is adding a new £15 purchase option and is removing the £2.50 option. Here is the new pricing compared to the old ones:
