Leaked EA Email Reveals 2018’s First Nintendo Direct

An internal email from EA has become public and reportedly holds some exciting news for Nintendo fans. The email shows a timeline for the game Fe, which is going to be shown off in a Nintendo Direct in January of 2018, according to the leaked information.

The email was accidentally sent to a Reddit user by the name of OldSoul 2. Though there has not been an official confirmation, the images in the email appear pretty elaborate and authentic. The timing of a January Nintendo Direct makes sense, and it would be the perfect opportunity to promote Fe, which is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in February. The image containing the Nintendo Direct information is below.

More details are revealed about the upcoming Nintendo Direct in the image as well. Fe will be given a Switch trailer and some hands-on reviews. The title’s developer Zoink is mentioned in the notes, as well as a “web update” and “first party support,” which both point to more general Nintendo Switch news.

The “web update” could refer to Nintendo’s upcoming online service, which is slated for launch sometime in 2018. For now, players can enjoy online multiplayer free of charge, but “most games will require a paid online service subscription from Nintendo in order to play online” after the service’s trial period ends.

“First party support” sounds like Nintendo is gearing up to announce an IP or two at this Direct. Many Switch owners are hoping for a Super Smash Bros reveal, but there has been no indication as to what Nintendo has up their sleeves. There are more Nintendo IP’s with games coming in 2018 — such as Kirby and Yoshi — so we might be seeing more details on those titles instead of a big reveal.

Do you think this leak is legit, or a hoax? If it’s the real deal, what are you hoping to see at the Nintendo Direct in January? Let us know in the comments below.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
