A moment of silence for Marvel Heroes, Gazillion Entertainment’s free-to-play action RPG featuring a roster of Marvel characters, which is shutting down at the end of the year. First reported by Kotaku, the closure was confirmed by a representative from Marvel’s parent company, Disney.
“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down,” the statement from Disney reads. “We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”
Gazillion later announced the news on the game’s official Twitter, revealing that the game’s servers will be online until December 31st, 2017. They have already removed in-game purchases.
Originally released in 2013 for PC, Marvel Heroes is free-to-play MMO that offers purchasable playable characters like Spider-Man, Hulk, and Black Widow, as well as costumes for them. Earlier this year, the game was ported to PS4 and Xbox One.
