Ubisoft has announced the next major update coming to Rainbow Six Siege. It’s called Operation Blood Orchid, and it hits all platforms on August 29th.
Developers took a break from adding new content to Rainbow Six Siege for a while to work on Operation Health, a project focused on fixing various bugs and long-standing issues in the game. With the work on bug fixes coming to a close, the team is shifting their efforts back to new content with Operation Blood Orchid, which we reported on earlier this week.
We don’t know many details about the upcoming expansion, as the new season won’t be fully revealed until the Rainbow Six Pro League finals at Gamescom later this month. But we do know the update will come with a new Hong Kong map and three new operators, two from Hong Kong and one from Poland.
The Hong Kong map will apparently be set in an old theme park. Although Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed the setting, they teased the theme park locale in a Twitter post and accidentally posted the map on the Rainbow Six Siege Tactical Board for a short period of time [via PCGamesN]. The teaser image from Twitter shows part of a rollercoaster that’s seen better days — broken railings, decaying stairs, vines growing over the sides. An abandoned Chinese theme park seems like just the locale for Rainbow Six business.
The Operation Blood Orchid map will be available for free to all players on August 29th, as will the new operators for season pass holders. Players who do not have the pass will have to wait until September 5th for the operators, and they’ll cost you some in-game money.
The Rainbow Six Pro League finals will take place August 25th and 26th, with more information on the new expansion coming on the second day.
Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
