Nintendo Switch gets Rayman Legends Definitive Edition and a free demo this summer

The love affair between Ubisoft and Nintendo continues, as Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition will land on the Switch September 12th, 2017. A free demo will also be available this summer.

This version of Rayman “allows up to four players and offers an exclusive wireless local multiplayer experience in Kung Foot mode. With the Nintendo Switch device undocked, players can use the touch screen to take out enemies, manipulate platforms, cut ropes and much more – anywhere, anytime, in both solo and multiplayer. Additionally, players will experience a new and exclusive tournament feature in an updated Kung Foot.”

Rayman Legends did very well critically, with the lowest rated version on Vita (tiny screen?) receiving an 87 on metacritic, and the highest on Wii U (happy to have anything) a 92.

IGN iterated

“I love its subtle and inventive visual tricks that hide dozens of crafty secret areas in plain sight, and since most levels don’t have time constraints, Legends gives us carte blanche to roam around to discover and appreciate secrets for ourselves.”

Gamespot gushed

“Fueled by smooth platforming, striking visuals, wacky situations, and infectious beats, Rayman Legends is a nifty platformer that exudes unabashed delight.”

But we can’t just listen to the major reviewers and their descriptive sentences. Here are a few User reviews.

There is nothing other than the word PERFECTION to describe this game. I bought it for my fiancee’ and instantly we both spent all night playing it. We just stopped… and can’t wait to have 4 people in on the action.
Whoa pardner’, what you and your fianceé do all night is your own business, and I don’t need to hear about 4 people getting in on the action!

I love platforming games, I think that it is my favourite games gender, but this was just… OMG, really good. I recommend it for the people that like games like Mario, or for the PS, Little Big Planet.
Listen here AlReVel, we don’t talk about ‘gender’ anymore in 2017, it’s just about the games. Take your gamergate stuff somewhere else!
Are you a Switch owner excited for Rayman? Would Rayman convince you to buy a Switch?

Mathew Falvai

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
