Nintendo Switch news: Golf Story release date, L.A. Noire resolution and Chess Ultra local multiplayer detailed

A bunch of Switch news has just been announced!

Golf Story

The highly anticipated golf RPG is finally being released… and it’s much sooner than we expected. Gold Story will be released on the American eShop of September 28th. The game has also been quietly added to the EU eShop and has the same release date.

The announcement for North America was made by the Nintendo of America Twitter account.

L.A. Noire

Take-Two sent a press release out today which confirms the game will be released on December 7th in Japan, several weeks after Europe and NA. It also states that the game will run at 1080p in TV Mode and 720p in Handheld mode. There’s no word on the framerate however.

In addition to this, the game will cost the same price as the PS4 version does in Japan. There seems to be no price increase for the game in that region. We’re still uncertain about the pricing for other regions, however.

Chess Ultra

It might not be on everyone’s radar but Chess Ultra is a great chess game. It was announced earlier this summer that the game would be coming to the Nintendo Switch but now the developer has released new details on the game.

It will feature cross-play between PC and Xbox One and will also include local two-player multiplayer. When playing in this mode, the console will act as a chess board and can be placed between the two players to replicate cross-table chess. Each player uses an individual Joy-Con controller to take their turn. The game also features an adaptive UI that changes each turn to be visible to each player so they can see their movement options.

There is currently no release date for Chess Ultra on the Nintendo Switch but it’s still expected to release this year.
