The new The Walking Dead game will not be coming any time soon. Starbreeze Studios has announced that Overkill’s The Walking Dead has been delayed again.
The game was first announced in 2014 but has since been delayed several times. This is the third time Overkill’s game has been delayed, The Walking Dead fans won’t be seeing the game until 2018. However, the developers haven’t provided a release period for next year. Hopefully Starbreeze Studios or Overkill will clarify this at a later date.
Starbreeze Studios made the announcement today through a news release on their website. However, this statement is in Swedish. We’ve translated it with the help of Google Translate.
The announcement states that the team have decided to delay the game so that it “reaches its full potential”. Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint also made a statement in the post. He says that the team is dedicated to “releasing an unforgettable experience” and that they have plans to support the game with “high quality content” for years after full release.
The exact release date will be announced at a later time. For now, there’s no way to know when Overkill will finish the game.
However, some insight might be given later this week during “Star Stream”. Starbreeze Studios is hosting a special livestream called Star Stream which will look at several of their games. This includes Dead by Daylight, System Shock 3 and the upcoming The Walking Dead game.
It has been confirmed that the livestream will be taking place on May 10th with week. The stream will begin at 18:00 CEST and it’s currently uncertain how long this stream will last.
If you’d like to catch Star Stream on Wednesday, you can find the Twitch page here.
