Surprise, gravity shifters!
As a special holiday treat, Sony announced a free Gravity Rush 2 Demo will hit the PlayStation Store tomorrow, December 22nd.
In a PlayStation blog post today, SCEA associate project manager Nick Accordino wrote, “Several of our PlayStation fans have told me they’ve been itching to get a taste of Kat’s new adventure before the New Year, so I’m happy to announce that the Gravity Rush 2 Demo will be available to download from PlayStation Store starting tomorrow.”
Accordino went on to explain the demo, which will have two paths: “One for those who are new to Gravity Rush, and another for those that are more familiar with Kat’s powers — so no matter your level of gravity-defying experience, please be sure to give it a shot!”
A demo like this is a great idea. It will ease new players into the game’s mechanics without boring veterans with been-there-done-that introductions and advice.
But wait! That’s not all!
The blog post also announced the release date of the Gravity Rush anime series. Called Overture, the series is made by Studio Khara, best known for its work on the Rebuild of Evangelion film tetralogy.
Overture will fill in the story gap between Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2 and will be available to watch on YouTube on December 26th at 8:00 AM PST.

Gravity Rush 2 was originally set to release earlier this month on December 2nd but was delayed. Game director Keiichiro Toyama stated developers wanted to release the sequel “at the very best time.” To make up for the delay, the game will be released with a premium DLC pack.
Gravity Rush 2 hits stores on January 18th, 2017 in Australia and Europe, January 19th in Japan, and January 20th in North America and the UK.
