Pokémon GO Data Miners Discover Hyper-Rare Egg Tier

For an app game, Pokémon GO has a lot of different aspects to finding and collecting Pokémon. One such method is hatching the creatures from eggs by walking certain distances. Of course, not all Pokémon are created equal, so some are more likely than others to be hatched from eggs. Data miners have recently discovered what they’re calling “hyper-rare eggs,” which is the newest and rarest tier of Pokémon eggs in the game.

The discovery came from The Silph Road, who dug up the hidden rarity tiers for Pokémon GO eggs a couple months ago. While they originally believed there were four tiers of eggs, data miners recently determined the fifth and final “hyper-rare” tier of eggs, which are filled with Pokémon that are the toughest to hatch.

What creatures come from these hyper-rare eggs, you ask? And exactly how rare are they? Well, the Pokémon in this platinum tier actually aren’t what most players would call “rare.” Pokémon included in these eggs are Wobbuffet, Girafarig, Dunsparce, and Shuckle, and players have a 0.2% chance of getting one from a PokéStop or gym. They’re no Pidgey or Magikarp, but Pokémon in the hyper-rare group aren’t exactly powerhouses in the game.

The current tiers of eggs, your chance of pulling them in the game, and their respective Pokémon are listed below:

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
