Rockstar hasn’t said a word about a new Red Dead game, but we have a pretty good idea that one is on the way. A while back there was a supposed leak on an artist’s LinkedIn profile that indicated he had done work on Red Dead Redemption 2. That made headlines for a few days, but it wasn’t seen as definitive proof by any means. Back in April, however, a large map was leaked (and then disappeared) that supposedly represented a near-complete version of the next Red Dead Redemption‘s world map.
It’s been fairly quiet since then. There have been two rumblings, however, that are giving hope to Red Dead fans everywhere. Red Dead Revolver just came to the PSN store as the next PS2 game on PS4. Additionally, Rockstar updated its Twitter and Facebook pages with the image above, which seems like a not-so-subtle hint at something. It’s worn, it’s gritty, and it’s red. Could this be leading to an official announcement?
Word on the street is that the next Red Dead Redemption game will actually be a prequel, and not a sequel. This seems strange to me, as Red Dead Revolver already fulfills that purpose. If we are looking at another Red Dead Redemption, it’s hard to say when Rockstar would officially reveal it. They’re a bit like Nintendo in that they rarely show up to expos to reveal their newer games, and tend to do things on their own time. If we see anything official any time soon, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
