The world isn’t short on Nintendo Switch rumors right now, and we’ve got a couple more for you: Mother 3 is finally coming to North America via the Switch Virtual Console, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might actually be a launch title after all. Both of these rumors come from well known Nintendo insider Laura Kate Dale.
Let’s talk about that Mother 3 tidbit first. Check out her tweet below.
Mother 3 VC Switch Q2 2017. Will be announced Jan 12 event.

A Mother 3 port has been rumored for a while–Laura admits this herself. But she’s confident enough now to stick her flag in a specific quarter, as well as it appearing in Nintendo’s Switch event on January 12th. We’ll find out then if her intel holds water.
Mother 3 released on the Game Boy Advance in 2006 but only to Eastern consumers. We’ve been waiting for an official North American version ever since, and this rumor is giving us a glimmer of hope.
Now for Zelda. Breath of the Wild was rumored–and widely believed–to be taken out of the running for Switch launch title due to delays from localization issues. However, Laura has sources that confirm the newest Zelda game will, in fact, be releasing in March.
Contrary to my past report on BOTW release date it is 100% coming at Switch launch in North America in March. Have seen finalised materials.

This is a delightful surprise since Breath of the Wild was believed to not be releasing until summer 2017.
Laura also tweeted that she isn’t sure what’s going on with the Wii U version. There have been rumors of further delays and even a cancellation, and neither would surprise me. However, BotW has been marketed to release simultaneously on the Switch and Wii U for months now, so there’ll be a lot of egg on Nintendo’s face if they do indeed cancel the Wii U version.
For those like me who are planning on purchasing a Switch on day one, these rumors are music to our ears. I’m excited to tune in to the Switch event on January 12th to see what confirmations Nintendo will give us for their new console. We’ll be covering the event here on A9K, so stay tuned!
