I got a huge hit of nostalgia when I found out Serious Sam was coming to VR. Playing SS co-op with friends were some of my all time favourite gaming memories. To couple that with VR is very exciting. Anyway, to the news.
Developer Croteam and virtual publisher Developer Digital have released Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope on Steam Early Access. The game is currently supported by the HTC Vive with dual wield controls. The Oculus Rift and Touch should also be supported once they become available.
If you’re happy to jump in on early access you can receive 20% off this week. Be aware that the game is not fully developed but it’s probably worth jumping in now to receive the discount. The game is planned to be in Early Access for at least 6 months and user feedback will help developers finish off the game.
After watching the trailer it seems like Serious Sam VR should again give us what we loved about the previous games. Huge waves of enemies and big bosses, in addition to those great one liners from Sam Stone. The game is set over multiple planets with several missions to complete. “Travel the galaxy, meet interesting aliens, and blow the shit out of them all in a mind-blowing, fast-paced, guns-blazin’ virtual reality environment”.
The final version will include new weapons, enemies, worlds, gameplay mechanics, difficulty modes and a player customisation skill tree.
