Today, EA and Disney revealed more details of Star Wars Battlefront II‘s single-player campaign with some behind-the-scenes footage. The video below features interviews with the developers and cast, who discuss the game’s story.
Star Wars Battlefront II will answer the question, “What happened after Return of the Jedi?” in an interesting way. Most Star Wars movies and games focus on the good guys — the Rebel Alliance and, in the newer films, the Resistance. In this title, you’ll play the single-player campaign as the other team.
Step into the shoes of Iden Versio, an Imperial Special Forces officer who witnesses the destruction of the second Death Star while on the moon of Endor. Versio was raised in an Imperial military camp from an early age, and she grew up with the single purpose of becoming a soldier.
Versio is played by Janina Gavankar, who shed some more light on the story at the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA.
“Now that the empire has fallen, they’re the underdogs,” said Gavankar while on stage at D23. “On November 17th, you get a chance to feel what it’s like to be a commander for the Empire.”
Other characters include an older male character, Hask, played by Paul Blackthorne, and a male Imperial soldier named Del, played by T.J. Ramini.
The game’s storyline starts during the final moments of Return of the Jedi and extends up to some of the newer films like The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
The original Star Wars Battlefront was widely criticized for its lack of a single-player campaign mode, so fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel’s release to see if EA can do it right.
Star Wars Battlefront II launches November 17th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
