Star Wars VR Experience Coming to US and UK This Winter

The VOID is bringing its Star Wars virtual reality installment to three locations across the United States and United Kingdom. Orlando, Anaheim, and recently announced London will see the Star Wars: Secrets Of The Empire VR experience this winter. Check out the trailer above.

In Star Wars: Secrets Of The Empire, you’ll believe you are disguised as a Stormtrooper working with three others to infiltrate an Empire base. The VOID already opened a critically acclaimed Ghostbusters-themed VR attraction this summer, and the public is waiting to see how the company handles a Star Wars experience next.

The London and Orlando installments will open on the same day, December 16th. The London location is in the Shepherd’s Bush neighborhood at the Westfield shopping center, while the Orlando, Florida attraction will open in Disney Springs outside Walt Disney World. The third location for the Star Wars VR experience will be in Anaheim, California, right outside Disneyland on January 5th.

Tickets for the US Star Wars events cost $30 and can be purchased on The VOID website. Tickets to the London attraction cost £32.50 each, which is around $43 in US dollars. At all three locations, up to four people can go through the VR experience together.

Star Wars: Secrets Of The Empire is built by Utah-based virtual reality startup The VOID in partnership with Disney’s ILMxLab. The VOID uses top-of-the-line VR headsets for high definition visuals and backpacks to eliminate messy wires. The experience also uses environmental effects like heat, wind, cold, and vibrations from the ground for an incredible sense of immersion. What’s more, objects in the real world are placed to match the location of their virtual counterparts, so you can actually reach out and touch the environment.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
