Blizzard has announced today that a HD version of their classic RTS game StarCraft will be released this year. The HD version of the game will contain all of the content from the base game and the Brood War expansion.
The remake is unsurprisingly titled StarCraft: Remastered. The graphics in the game have been upped to “4K ultra high definition” and gamers can expect the game to contain upgraded audio also. Here’s what StarCraft Remastered is offering players:
Blizzard has confirmed that the game will work with the newly renamed Blizzard App. Players will be able to play matches online with their friends or fight other players with the new matchmaking system. The developer has confirmed that there are more than 50 missions in the game for players to complete.
The developer has revealed quite a few new features that will be in the game. However, Blizzard hasn’t gone into any real detail about each of these new features. As a result, information about StarCraft: Remastered is currently quite limited.
It’s been confirmed however that the three main races will be returning to the game. Players will be able to select between the Zerg, Protoss and Terran. Blizzard has also provided some information and background about each of these races.
The gameplay in the upcoming HD remake will be exactly the same as the original game. Players can expect to see a few new features that improve the game but there will be no major new additions to the gameplay.
StarCraft: Remastered is slated for a Summer 2017 release date however, Blizzard hasn’t provided an exact release date just yet. We will update you when we learn more.
